Confirmation.

What is Confirmation?

The sacrament of Confirmation is the 2nd sacrament of initiation. At Confirmation, candidates receive the Holy Spirit by laying on of hands by a Bishop or Priest, who confirms them using sacred Chrism. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit received at baptism are strengthened at Confirmation, completing their baptism.         Candidates renew their baptismal promises and the Profession of Faith. At Baptism, we are like seeds in Christ.

At Confirmation, we mature into adults and become soldiers of Christ. Baptism is the seed of divine life in the soul; then confirmation makes the seed bloom. The gifts of the Holy Spirit unite us more perfectly to the

Church and give us the special strength to live in the world as a witness of Christ and to serve people. 5-year Diocesan Plan lowering the age of Confirmation to 10 years old.
