Liturgical Ministries
Altar Server Ministry
Altar serving is a special and reverent ministry dedicated to serving at the Lord’s Altar and assisting during the sacred celebration of Mass and other solemn ceremonies. Altar servers support the priest by helping prepare the altar, leading processions, and assisting throughout the liturgy so that the Mass may be celebrated with reverence and order. They also help guide the assembly by signaling when to stand, sit, or kneel.
Children who have received their First Holy Communion and are at least 8 years old are invited to become altar servers. Adults who feel called to serve in this meaningful ministry are also warmly welcome.
Lector Ministry
The Lector ministry plays an important role in the celebration of the Mass by proclaiming the Word of God to the assembly. Lectors read the first and/or second readings during Mass and, when needed, may also lead the Responsorial Psalm (in the absence of a cantor) and the Prayers of the Faithful.
Those who serve as Lectors should be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church. They should also have a love for Sacred Scripture and the ability to proclaim the readings with clarity, reverence, and dignity. Lectors are typically scheduled to serve about two times per month.
